Following is the weather report, and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, yesterday, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day : — The anti-cyclone over New Zealand has commenced to move eastward, the centre to-day being east of the North Island. A shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea, but another intense anti-cyclone is situated over eastern Australia. , , , . , , North-easterlv to northerly winds, light to moderate, but freshening somewhat; backing to southerly to-night in the far south, and southerlies later extending over most of the Dominion. Seas slight to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to fresh northerly winds at first in the eastern Tasman Sea, but a southerly change setting in soon in the far southern portion and moving over the whole area during to-morrow; seas moderate but rising. Weather mainlv fair and mild at first; rain developing soon, however, in the western and southern portions of the South Island, and cloudy and misty conditions later exte.ving over the Dominion, with scattered ram in most districts. Temperatures becoming cooler to-morrow. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER. Wellington.—Fine but cloudy, with a light northerly wind. Wanganui—Fine and sunny; passing clouds, no wind. Waipuktirau.—Bright and sunny, turning cold in the late afternoon. the barometer was steady. . Auckland. —Fine, with cloudy to overcast conditions during the afternoon and evening. A light breeze varied between south-east-and north. The barometer continued very high and was steady at 30.50 in. after midday. Christchurch. —Overcast, with a thick fog late in the afternoon. Ihe maximum temperature was 52deg., and the minimum 43.7 deg. A light east-norin-enst breeze in the morning changed to north-north-east in the afternoon. Jhe barometer, after falling slightly, was steady at 30.33 m. Dunedin.—With the pressure still high, the sun shone brightly and conditions -enerally wore mild. There was a slight north-east breeze.
