LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Technical Teachers Honour Mr. T. B. Bowring The honour of life membership was conferred upon Mr. T. B. Bowring, of Christchurch, by the New Zealand Technical School Teachers’ Association at its annual conference at Wellington yesterday. ' Mr. J. H. Howell, of Wellington, said Mr. Bowring had been one of the most active and faithful members of the association since its inception. He had served it without any thought of personal gain, having only ' its interests at heart and, through it, education generally. Mr Bowring had given of himself, if one could do that, almost too freely, said Dr. D. E. Hansen, of Christchurch. He was one of the most honoured members of the Christchurch college staff. When the history of technical education in New Zealand was written, the names of Mr. Bowring and men and women like him would figure tremendously in the story of the progress of their association. Replying, Mr. Bowring quoted the Chief Justice of England as saying that on such occasions there were only two speeches—one long, one short. The short was “thank you,” the long, ’’thank you, very much.” He could do no better than say “thank you. very very much.” Mr. Bowring said he be came connected with the association in May, 1914.
Don’t disregard any idea if it is useful. If may be well worth patenting and developing.- Be wise and protect Its possibilities before someone else gets in first. We will advise you.— Henry Hughes.
