About 500 boys could be placed in various positions in and around Auckland, but the shortage of boys is so acute that the demand for labour cannot be satisfied. “There are more jobs than boys,” said Mr. N. G. Gribble, secretary of the Auckland Boys’ Employment Committee, “I believe I could place 500 boys, 200 in the city and the remainder in Hie country. There are certain business firms that have standing orders for youths. o’it we cannot supply their requirements ’’
