The largest order of its kind ever placed in Great Britain has been received by Bruce Peebles and Company, Limited, of Edinburgh, for the electrification extension of the Southern Railway. The contract, the approximate value of which is £150,000, is for the manufacture, supply, anfl erection of 27 rectifier substation equipments for the supply of current for the electric trains ou the new Portsmouth main line electrification scheme.
