Smouldering Ruins Of Farm-house BELIEF OF THE POLICE By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch. April 30. A human body, partly consumed by lire was fouud in Hie smouldering ruins of a house nt Swamp Road, Amberley, this morning, and near tlie body was a double-barrelled shotgun. The body is believed |>y the police to be that of Frederick John .Stanton, a single man, aged 51, a farmer, who has been living alone in'the house for two years. The discovery was made at 5.30 a.m. by Mr. Brooke, driver of a cream truck. On Wednesday evening Stanton played cards at the house of.a neighbour, Mr. J. Bblelier, until 10.30, when he loft for his home. Tlie house was ot six rooms, built 60 years ago, ami was left to Stanton by his mother two years ago lie t'aruied .”0 acres of land surrounding the house anil had been in ill-health for several months. Seven years ago he received a fractured skull ill a fall from a horse while hunting, and he frequently said this had left a permanent effect on him.
