Winds, moderate to strong northerly (ot’orth.-westeriy generally, of gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Napier; southerly, however, in the far south, mid southerlies extending over most of the Dominion sboitly. Seas in New Zealand .waters rough south of Cape Egrnont and about Cook Strait ; moderate, but Inter rising elsewhere. . Strong northerly at first in the northern portion of the Eastern Tasman Sea, hut strong southerlies soon prevailing generally; seas rough. Weather cloudy to overcast, with fairly general rain ; sn°w on some of U>e rangw and hail on parts of the southern and eastern coastal areas of the South Js land: temperatures becoming cold. Conditions improving to-morrow on the West Coast of the South Island. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER.
