KING’S THEATRE
“First a Girl’,’ Wellington theatregoers will have a further opportunity to see “First a girl” at the King’s Theatre, where it is screening for another week. Miss Matthews, who has so many successes to her credit, can safely be said to have outshone herself in this, her latest picture, while the one and only Sonnie Hale, who partners her, provides just the requisite amount of humour to make the picture one of the outstanding productions of the year. Two new song successes, combined with an excellent supporting cast, give the picture an excellent finish. Once again the public is thrilled and mystified when Warner Oland, in his old role of Charlie Chan, the Chinese detective, returns to solve the greatest mystery of all time, ns presented in “Charlie Chan’s Secret.” The masterly manner in which Oland has always handled this role, which is so familiar to him, is known to all picturegoers, and it has been said that this is his best effort to date.
