RONGOTAI MASTER FAREWELLED
The staff of Rongotai College yesterday afternoon farewelled Mr. E. G. Thomas, who has been a member of the staff for the past six years, and who has been appointed to the staff of the Kelburn Normal School. On behalf of the staff, Mr. A- S. Farquhar. after referring to the esteem and affection with which his colleagues regarded Mr. Thomas, presented him with a handsome clock as a token or their goodwill and good wishes for the success of his future career. Mr. F. Martyn Renner, principal of the college, eulogised Mr. Thomas’s worth as a member of the staff, paying particular tribute to his fine influence on the boys who passed through his classes. He mentioned the many grateful acknowledgments by old boys of the college. 1 Mr. Thomas referred to the happiness of his association with Rongotai College and stressed the fact tha his constant aim had been to make the boys his friends as well as his pupils. On behalf of the school J. A. Oldfield head prefect, presented Mr. Thomas with a fountain-pen.
