GIFT EVENING A happy gift evening was spent at the residence of Air. aud Airs. W. Holloway. Cashmere Avenue, Khaudallah, recently in honour of the approaching marriage of their niece, Aliss Alary G, Donovan. The time passed very pleasantly with music and competitions, the winners being Miss Bae Fitzgerald and Aliss Nancy .Martin. Alisses Gabriel Loftus and Nancy Afarthi and S. Donovan rendered musical items, which were much enjoyed. The bride-to-be received many useful gifts, the opening of which made an enjoyable guessing item. The host and hostess 'were"cordially thanked for a very pleasant evening. College Sports The Wellington Girls’ College sports were lield yesterday in ideal weather. The track was in excellent order, and the programme of sports events was run without a bitch. A large gathering of interested parents, ex-pupils and many friends attended. Afternoon tea was served by the college pupils under the direction of the staff. Among those present were: Aliss Grieg (principal), Aliss Batham (principal of the Wellington Hast Girls’ College), Miss Mary McLean, 0.8. E., and Aliss Agnes .McLean, Airs. Ernest Dawson. Airs. Peter Fraser. Airs. Urquhart (president of the Parents' Association), Airs. IV. O. Urquhart (O.G.A. president), Mrs. .1. Ward. Aliss Williams and Aliss E. Williams, Canon Percival James and Airs. James, and Mr. B. Durroch. Afternoon Tea Aliss Gladys Somerville provided a number of friends with the opportunity of saying goodbye to her niece, Aliss Dinah Sloman, before she leaves for Sydney, when she gave a very delightful tea part}’ at Her home in Glenmore Street yesterday afternoon. The drawing-room, which is long and spacious, was decorated with sonic hydrangeas and dahlias from Aliss Somerville’s beautiful garden, which is always so admired by friends aud passers-by. The huge blooms of several lovely shades filled the large bowls and jars, and there were smaller vases of mixed blooms placed on occasional tables. Miss Somerville wore a black crepe de chine frock with a small floral pattern, and Aliss Sloman was very smart in a navy frock patterned with white ''shilling" spots. Airs. Sloman was among the guests, wearing black and white, and Aliss Kathleen Somerville, another niece of Miss Somerville who assisted to 'entertain, wore a willow green frock. Those present included: Lady Frazer. Airs. John Campbell, Airs. lan Duncan, Airs. Brandon, Airs. A. 11. Allies, Airs. Hughes Steele, Airs. Frank Leekie, Airs.
