Skippers Limited

Skippers, Limited, has issued a circular to shareholders setting out the reasons for the issue of 170,000 preference shares of 1/- each. Lack of water owing to the continued drought has held up operations on the claim. The proposed hydro-elec-tric scheme to provide the necessary power has been approved by the Government departments concerned and the company’s application to the Unemployment Board has resulted in a subsidy of £4OOO being made available, conditional upon an equivalent amount being spent by the company. The work is now well in hand, and the first payment of £lOOO on account of the subsidy has been received. A certain amount of preference capital has been subscribed, but a further sum of £2500 is required to enable the work to be completed and provide a reasonable amount of working capital for carrying on operations when the hydro-electric plant is operating.
