Bishop Sprott’s Election (From “The Dominion,” March 9, 1911.) The Anglican Synod of the Diocese °f Wellington assembled in special session yesterday afternoon with the object of electing a bishop to succeed Bishop Wallis, who has resigned. On inquiry being made concerning a current report that the Union Company were about to place an order for a new turbine steamer to replace the Mararoa in the Wellington-Lyttelton ferry service, Mr. W. A. Kennedy, the Wellington manager for the company, was unable to confirm the statement. It is stated, however, that the new vessel is to be larger than the Maori, and also about two knots faster.
President Diaz, of Mexico, is on his death-bed. United States troops are massed on the Mexican frontiera. A White House announcement states that there will be no operations against Mexico, and that the mobilisation is merely for training purposes.
