GARDENS NEED LIME
Apply It Now The sole reason why many gardens fail to produce first-class flower dis plays and heavy crops of vegetables is because the soil is lacking in lime. It is safe to say that the majority of ordinary gardens all over the country would give infinitely better blooms and produce next summer if they were limed this autumn. The point is emphasised by realisation of the fact that every year 4cwt. of lime per acre is removed from soil by growing plants, rain, and other agencies. Tills wastage must be made good. Every gardener should consider lime as his great benefactor and friend .Soil is a storehouse of plant food. Lime is the key that unlocks the door of tha' storehouse. Liming can be overdone, but this is never likely to occur in the average garden, so that whether or not you know your soil to be in need of it, make up yonr mind to apply lime this autumn. You. will then have the satisfaction of knowing that a further application will not be necessary for three or four years.
