When several members of the Waitemata Electric Power Board armed to address a meeting at Swanson on the loan proposals of £lOO,OOO they found an audience of one. The meeting « been placarded and advertised, and the chairman, the member for the district, and the acting-manager of the board dulv attended, fully primed with fact-., figures and arguments appropriate to the occasion. Their eloquence was appreciated by the consequent audmnee. He listened with attention to the speakers, and at the conclusion of the meeting he moved, seconded and carried a hearty vote of thanks and co fidence in the board’s representatives and promised to vote for the loan. And fortified bv this evidence ot public support, the board’s delegates anticipate the result of the poll wit< equanimity.
