ESPERANTO CLUB

Weekly Instruction The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club took place on Monday evening in the hall of the Tararua Tramping Club, Grey Street, Mr. Vernon J. Leek presiding over a large attendance. Correspondence was received during the week from Esperanto Clubs and individual esperantists in England France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Austria, Albania, Japan, Algiers, Australia and Papua. Mr. L. E. Dust, delegate of the Universal Esperanto Association presented a parcel of esperanto books to the club library. After the enrolment of new members, the instruction class continued its'study of the international language, the remainder of the elub dividing into translation and reading circles, followed by n quarter of an hour’s break for the purpose of allowing members to move about and get to know each other. The programme period was opened by Mr. A. Vogt, club secretary, who presented an original satirical monologue in esperanto. Miss M. Goodin, Mr. O. Cooch, Mr. Nelson Hill, Mr. J. Thomas, and Mr. Henri W. Thoms appeared in entertaining esperanto sketches. Mr. Vernon J. Leek gave a short talk in esperanto. A musical trio followed, presented by Messrs. J. Thomas, E. McKenna and Nelson, Hill. The concluding item was an original esperanto monologue by Mr. Bertram Potts.
