LYALL BAY SUCCESSES
Provincial Surf Life-saving Titles Surf life-saving championships of the AVellington province were decided at Island Buy yesterday. Heats were decided in the morning, when conditions were unpleasant, but in the afternoon the weather brightened, making conditions almost perfect, although the water was cold. In the morning there was a set which carried the swimmers southward of the buoys, and in the afternoon one which diverted them to the northward of their courses.
Lyall Bay A team won the Silver Keel for the AVellington six-man championship, with Alaranui second and Lyall Bay B third. K. Pelham, Lyall Bay, wou the provincial beltman’s championship, with his club-mate, Blakeley, second, and Claridge, of Alaranui, third. Three Lyall Bay teams contested the final ot the Waller Cup (four-man competition), the A team being successful. After reviewing the march past, Air. P. Coira congratulated the life-savers ou their successes at the Dominion championships, and said that AVellington had set a standard for the other centres to emulate. AVellington must not rest on its laurels and should strive to meet Hterner competition with improved performances. Detailed results arc:—
