MISHAP TO AKAROA
Collision With Collier In River Thames By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March L While proceeding down the Itivcr Thames to take on her passengers at the commencement of her voyage to New Zealand, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Aktiroa. which arrived from Loudon on Saturday, was involved in a collision with a collier, the London Power Company’s steamer Colonel Crompton of l-t!)5 tons. The small steamer was struck on the port side and was beached with the assistance of a fang. The bows of the Akaroa were damaged. The impact, although distinctly felt by those on board, was not sufficient to throw them oif their feet The Akaroa went into dock at Tilbury, where the plates In her bows were replaced, a delay of only two days being caused. None of the passengers had joined nt (he time of the collision. They were notified of the delay and went aboard at Tilbury after repairs had been completed. The engine-room of the Colonel Crompton was flooded, but Ihe vessel was subsequently repaired.
