STAFF CHANGES

Union Steam Ship Company

Jonsequent upon the retirement from the service on Hatch 31 of Mr. J. I. Cato, branch manager at Napier, the following staff changes are announced to take place in the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited, this month:—Mr. 11. V. Bell, branch manager at Gisborne, to be branch manager at Napier; Mr. K. W. Bull, chief clerk at Napier, to be branch manager at Gisborne. Mr. Cato, who retires on March 31, after a service of 52 years jointly with the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited, and the New Zealand Shipping Company. Limited, was born in 1866, and joined the latter company at Napier in February, 1881. On January 1,1922, when the Union Steam Ship Company took over the Napier agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, of which Mr. Cato was manager, he' was given the managership of the Union Steam Ship Company, which position he has since held. Mr. Bell joined the service of the New Zealand Shipping Company on Mav 11. 1903, as a junior in their Auckland office, and entered the service of the Union Steam Ship Company at. that port in January, 1922. He continued there, filling various positions, until December, 1927, when he was appointed manager of the company’s office at Gisborne. Mr. Bull joined the service of the New Zealand Shipping Company in Juno,- 1911. as a junior in their Napier office, and on the Union Steam Ship Company taking over the agency of the former company, was attached to their staff, being apjiointed chief clerk in
