Lamb Market Weaker BEEF IN SHORT SUPPLY Lamb market: Weaker, owing to larger supplies available. Demand is affected by heavy supplies Home-killed meat and low prices chilled beef. Mutton market: M ethers, market steady and unchanged, but tendency easier for heavyweights. Ewes, firm with moderate demand at the advanced prices owing to shortage of supplies. Beef market: Frozen beef market short of supplies and hindquarters have advanced slightly. New Zealand porker pigs: Values have declined, owing to poor demand for frozen due to plentiful supplies of Home-killed. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market steady and unchanged. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the approximate average prices realised for the week, based on actual transaction® of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to .Smithfield market and/or ex London stores. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office, as at close of business last week: —The market for wethers is weaker for , heavy-weights; light remain steady. There :s a moderate demand for ewes, prices are firm. Weaker values are ruling for lamb owing -to lack of demand. Beef is in short supply and prices are nominal. Trade generally is slow.
