LITTLE SPACE LEFT
Easter Show Attractions
IMPROVEMENTS EFFECTED
With only 2000 feet of-space left to be disposed of and the opening still more than a month away, the indica-. tions are that this year’s Easter Show in Wellington will do better than for a long time; Manufacturers especially have taken space up. well. The staff will lay out the. floor space which has been taken next wttek, so that stallholders may prepare their stalls iu plenty of Lime. ;• Mauawatu and W.ilirarapa entrants for the horse events,--of -which there are many, would greatly assist by informing the management of the number of animals they are entering for the events, which will last some three days. The ■ association provides free inside and paddock accommodation for all horses participating, and early information would enable adequate provision to be made. Mr. A. GHlanders, Canterbury, will be the judge in the horse events, for which new hurdles and brush fences have been prepared. The Education Department’s display will be on a large scale, and competitive events, such as photography, dog trials, vegetables, models, needlework and cooking are being well entered for. Free schedules are now available. The rockery has been built on a mure ambitious scale, with two fountain ponds as well as.the central pool into' which the cascade falls in a triple leap down the ferny background. There are the usual exhibits of plants, among which many new ones will make their apiiearance. Rock gardens are increasingly popular, aud this year’s additions will be numerous. Dancing and marching will be on a more spectacular scale than formerly, and it new arrangement, by which the performers will ostensibly be present-: ing their effects for a rajah and his harem, who will occupy the centre of interest on a gay dais, should add to, the impressiveness of the marches, besides giving a touch of colour to the stadium. 1 , , P . Arrangements are being made toi tlie attendance of a band each genius, and on Saturday, April 4, there will be a massed bands display and march. Evening entertainments on a varied scale are being arranged, and there is in view a very strong sideshow section.
