LODGE MEETINGS
Independent Order of Oddfellows There was a fair attendance at the recent meeting of Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge (Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows). Bro. 11. Hewer, Noble Grand, presided. Lodge honours were accorded a visitor from Loyal Moera Branch Lodge. A letter of recommendation was granted a member. Invitations were accepted for two socials, and the social committee reported completed arrangements for the forthcoming dance. Bro. Clark was presiding officer at the last meeting of Loyal Newtown Lodge (Manchester United Independent Order of Oddfellows). Bros. Allcbck and Beil were elected to represent - tire' lodge rrt the Wellington Hospital Association's.annual meeting on March 7. Bros. Clark and Rhodes were elected as rtptese'ritatives lit' Loyal Britannia Lodge’s ■ annual smoke concert early in March,,. Tke . financial secretary presented the annual balancesheet and report, which' were "adopted - . Presentations were made. to.. Bras.. .41 Bland and A. Rhodes, both past grands of the Newtown Lodge. A‘ hearfy welcoriie and lodge honours were accorded to- Brt* Geo. Harris of Loyal Marlbpyppgh. Lo.dge, At the close of the meeting a card evening was participated in by - members’and a number of visitors • • The quarterly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge (Manchester ' Unity ‘' Ihdependent Order of Oddfellows), was held recently, Sister J. Couper presiding. The social programme for 1936' was accepted as drawn up by the social ■committee-, 'and details of special invitatipjw. to be issued and the holding of socials were discussed. Apologies were received from'the'lecture mistress and vice grand, both .of whom were absent on account of illness. The financial secretary was asked to represent the lodge at Loyal Britannia Lodge's 93rd annual smoke concert. Sisters Reynard and McFarlane were elected ae-delegates at the Wellington Hospital Association’s annual meeting early in March.
