PALACE, PETONE
“Broadway Gondolier,” the sensational musical comedy with the star of “Flirtation Walk” and “Shipmates Forever, Dick Powell, in the leading role, commences this afternoon at the Palace Theatre, Petone, and screens for three nights Also in the cast are Joan Biondell, Adolphe Menjou, Louise Fazenda, William Gargan, the Four Mills Bros., and Ted Fio Rito and his band. The story concerns the romance of. a taxicab driver, who aspires to be a singer, and the secretary of a big broadcasting concern, who falls in love with, him, and arranges an audition. A series of mixups prevents his appearance and he loses his chance. He goes to Vienna and becomes a gondolier. Returning later to Broadway, he is an instantaneous radio success, in the guise of a real gondolier, but gets into difficulties when his rival threatens to expose the fraud,
