Christchurch Mayoralty By-election By Telegraph—Press Association. Cliristcliurcli, February 28. Three candidates have been nominated for the Mayoralty by-election caused through the resignation of the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. They are the Rev. J. K. Archer (Labour), Mr. J. W. Beanland (Citizens’ Association) and Mr. E. L. Hills (Independent). The election will be held on March 11. There are seven nominations for the three vacancies on the City Council caused by the resignation of Messrs. Archer and Beanland to contest the Mayoralty, and that of Mr. C. E. Jones, owing to illness. The nomination" are: Sir Hugh Acland, Messrs. J. Carter and T. J. Maling (Citizens’ Association), G. Manning, M. Maefarlane and J. Matheson (Labour), and B. Ahlfejd (Independent).
