TRIBUTES TO RHODES
Australian Cricketers
(Received February 11, 12.40 a.m.) Bulawayo, February 10.
There was no play in the cricket match between Australia and Rhodesia before lunch owing to rain. The Australians paid homage to Cecil Rhodes when they made a pilgrimage to the lonely Matoppo Hills. In silence and bare-headed they gathered round the simple grave of the great Empire builder on the top of the hill from the place known as' “the view of the world.” Subsequently, at a mayoral reception, the manager, Jlr. H. D. Rowe, paid a tribute to Rhrfdes and his scholarships. A distinguished gathering included the Governor, Sir Herbert Stanley, the Chief Justice, Sir Fraser Russell and.. Mr. A. Welsh, Speaker of the House of Assembly. TARRANT’S TEAM IN INDIA (Received February 11, 12.40 a.m.) Bangalore, February 10. Mr. F.
