Ross and Cromarty Polling
(British Official Wireless.)
Rugby, February 8.
Polling will take place on Monday in the by-election in Roeg and Cromarty, in which the Dominions Secretary, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald, is standing as National Government candidate and is opposed by Mr. Randolph Churchill (Conservative), as well as official Labour and Liberal candidates. < The campaign, which was interrupted for several days out of respect for the memory of the late King, has been remarkable for the difficulties imposed on all the candidates by the severity of the weather conditions. Motorcars have b'en ditched or have had to be abandoned on slippery roads or In snowdrifts on several occasions, and some parts of the wide and mountainous areas of the constituency have been reached by candidates and their supporters only after adventurous journeys, sometimes by boat. The main Issues in the by-election have been concerned with agricultural policy.
