Mr. C. W. Budd was unanimously re-elected president of the United Kingdom Manufacturers and New Zealand Representatives’ Association nt the meeting of the association council held recently. . -
Mr. W. Witt, formerly of Witt and "Wright, warehousemen, of Wellington, returned from a trip.to Honolulu by the Monterey. Mr. Witt is now living at Rotorua, which place, he considers, has more attractions than Hawaii has to offer.
The Revs. It. B. Gosnell, A. J. Seamer, W. G. Slade, C. Blair, A. Ashcroft, A. N. Seotter, J. It. Nelson, H. Ashworth, F. E. Leadley and Basil Metson left Wellington last night for Christchurch to attend the Methodist conference.
Mr. H. Neville, sales manager of Columbia Pictures for Australia and New Zealand, arrived at Wellington from Sydney by the Wanganella yesterday. He will leave to-day by air for the South Island, and will return to Wellington next Tuesday. Mr. G. J. Bertlnshaw, chief engineer of the Railway Department, is visiting the South Island and is conducting his annual staff review. He will remain in Christchurch until the end of the week, when he will leave for Dunedin and Invercargill. Mr. R. H. J. Camm, manager of the Commercial Bank of’Australia at Adelaide, has been elected chairman of the Associated Banks of South Australia for this year.' Mr. Camm succeeds Mr. D. E. Mac-Ewan, manager of the Bank of Australasia, Adelaide, in the position. Before his appointment, as manager of the Adelaide branch Mr. Camm was manager of the Commercial Bank’s branch at Christchurch, New Zealand, for seven years, and bad previously controlled the Invercargill, New Zealand, branch for nine years. Mr. J. E. Astill, who has been manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Christchurch, since March, 1934, has received notice of bis appointment as acting-inspector of the southern division of the bank in New South Wales, with headquarters at Sydney, and will leave shortly to take up his new duties. Mr. Astill will be succeeded by Mr. G. ll.'Bourne, assistant to the inspector of the western division, New South Wales, and previously manager of the bank’s Tamworth (New South Wales) branch. Mr. Bourne has a distinguished record, enlisting in 1914, being appointed a major in the 2nd Light Horse Regiment. Proceeding to Egypt, he was promoted to th erask of lieutenantcolonel in 1916, and was' awarded the D.S.O. and was mentioned in dispatches.
