FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Changeable, with passing showers; cool temperatures.
Following is the weather report and forecast issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day: — A shallow depression is crossing New Zealand to-day and a secondary is following it across the Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone is passing to the north,while another one is located over the Great Australian Bight. Moderate westerly to south-westerly winds, freshening about and south ot Look Strait; becoming more generally southerly to-morrow. . ~ c A considerable southerly swell south of East Cape, and rather rough south oi Kawhia; elsewhere in New Zealand waters seas moderate but later rising about Cook and Foveaux Straits. . Moderate to fresh westerly winds, backing to southerly, in the eastern lasman Sea; seas moderate to rather rough. . , Weather changeable and with passing showers or moderate rain at times in most districts, but more especially in those with a westerly aspect. Temperatures cool. YESTERDAY’S WEATHER, Wellington.—Fair to fine with a moderate and fresh north-westerly wind. -Minimum temperature on Sunday night, 49.4 deg.; maximum yesterday. 6i.3deg.; at 4 p.m., 67.1 deg , Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended midnight, nil. Rainfall for February, 7.39 in.; for year, 10.74 in. ... . _ Palmerston North—Fine with passing clouds after overnight rain. Boisterous northerly wind ehanging to north-westerly. Cool temperatures. Masterton.—Bright sunshine; .passing clouds; light westerly breeze. Wanganui.—-Fine and warm with passing clouds. The wind was from the west. Waipukurau.—A fairly warm day on Sunday was followed yesterday by a beautiful warm day with bright sunshine. ’ Auckland.—A moderate westerly wind and fine weather, but the conditions were overcast and threatening during the evening. Christchurch?—Fine with a very light south-west breeze in the morning and light north-east breeze in the evening. The maximum temperature was bi.odcg. The barometer was rising and registered 29.85 in. in the evening. Dunedin.—Fine with bright sunshine and a light easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 65deg. The barometer had a falling tendency and registered ■ 29.70 in. at 4 p.m.
