Immediate Conversations With Egypt KNOTTY PROBLEMS FIRST (British Official Wireless.) i Rugby, February 4. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, questioned in the House of Commons with regard to Egypt, replied that in response to the request of the United Front for the negotiation of a treaty of alliance, the High Commissioner has been instructed to stale that his Majesty’s Government was prepared to enter forthwith into conversations with the Egyptian Government with the object of arriving at an Anglo-Egyptian tl-eatv settlement. \ ' With a view of promoting prospects of a comprehensive settlement, his Majesty’s Government thought it desirable to begin with categories which had given most difficulty m 1930. It' was felt that if these difficulties were sunnoun ted the prospects of reaching a settlement would clearly be favourable. Sir Miles Lampson had duly informed King Fuad, the Egyptian Prime Minister and members of the United Front of this reply. A non-pitrty Government, under the leadership of Aii Maher Tasha, hafi now been formed, and it was understood that a body representing all parties, and presided over by Naiias Pasha, would be appointed by Royal Decree to conduct the conversations.
