CITY OF KHARTOUM MAIL

Delivery in Wellington

Smelling faintly as a reminder of its immersion in the Mediterranean Sea and still damp, one of the letters retrieved from the wrecked Imperial Airways flying-boat. City of Khartoum, arrived at “The Dominion” office yesterday.

The contents were inseparably stuck together, although there was no adhesive substance originally in the envelope. The stamp has been washed off the envelope, which is slightly stained, with the top edge pulped. I* reached New Zealand in a re-enclosed letter cover of the .Sydney dead letter office, to which an Air Mail sticker had been attached in place of a stamp.

The address of another letter in the bag for “It. S. -m.il, Esq., of Milne and Choyce, Ltd., Auckland, New Zea land,” has been clearly transferred to the back of the envelope.
