FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.

Fine and warm; isolated rains in the extreme north and south.

Following is the weather report and forecast issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day : A rather intense anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. Light to moderate and variable winds, with south-east to north-east prevailing at first; later tending more northerly and freshening somewhat in and south ot Cook Strait. Seas slight to moderate in New Zealand waters. . ■ Moderate north-easterly winds and slight to moderate seas in the eastern Tasman

Sea. A few isolated rains in the extreme north and south and parts of eastern districts of the South Island, but for the most part fine and warm.

YESTERDAY’S WEATHER.

Wellington.—A brilliantly fine, warm day with a light breeze from the south. The maximum temperature was 73deg., and the minimum temperature on Monday night 53.8'deg. The temperature nt 3 p.m. yesterday was 71.2 deg. Rainfall at “The Dominion” building for 24 hours ended midnight, nil. Rainfall for January, 3.22 in.; for year, 3.22 in. Palmerston North. —Bright sunshine, light hazy clouds, warm temperatures, light easterly wind. Masterton.— Bright, fine morning, passing clouds, warm temperature light westerly breeze; rain showers in late afternoon. Wanganui.—Fine and sunny with passing clouds and a light south-easterly breeze. Waipukurau.—A bright sunny morning, but the sky clouded over in the afternoon, with a slight south-west wind. The barometer was steady. Auckland.—Fine and sunny during the morning and early afternoon. There was a moderate easterly wind which freshened about 4 p.m., and the sky became overcast and there were several light showers. Conditions were warm, the temperature at mid-day being 75deg. The barometer has been steady at 30.15 in. Christchurch. —Fine and sunny, with a moderate north-east breeze. The barometer had a falling tendency and registered 30.19 in. at 5 p.m. Dunedin.— Overcast and calm; conditions were warm and pleasant, the maximum temperature being 62deg. • •
