Afternoon Tea A corner of the lounge at the Hotel St. George was beautifully decorated yesterday afternoon with tall green vases of yellow and red gladioli, when Mrs. Angus Jones gave an afternoon tea to welcome Mrs. J. 11. Lindon (wife of the general manager of rhe Vacuum Oil Co. (Pty,), Ltd.), who has recently arrived from Melbourne, and Mrs. Callanan (wife of the managing director, Melbourne), who is on holiday in New Zealand. In addition to the gladioli, there were baskets of roses and fern attractively displayed on low tables, Mrs. Jones received her guests wearing a brown ensemble relieved with beige and a large brown hat.
The guests of honour were both presented with shoulder sprays of roses. Among those present were: Mrs, George Hartshorn, Mrs. Vine. Mrs. Gilbert. Mrs. Borham, Mrs. J. Stewart, Mrs. Mansfield, Mrs. I. D. Gordon, Mrs. W. Machin, Mrs. Whitham, Mrs, Laurenson, Mrs. Thomas (Palmerston North), Mrs. Keyes. '
