Hons. R. Semple and P. Webb By Telegraph—Press Association. Hokitika , January .18. The Hon. R. Semple and the Hon. I’. C. AVeldi. who are paying an official visit to Westland, yesterday made a number of visits of inspection at various centres. To-day they are visiting Kokatnhi Valley, and will afterward proceed to South AVestland. Last evening deputations wore received, and a long list of requirements brought under notice. Mr. Semple outlined the public works policy with relation to relief, and Mr. AA’ebb congratulated the mining executive of AVestland on the work done during its existence, stating that no other executive had done such excellent work.

Regarding the cessation of exploratory work on the hydro-electric scheme at Onepoto. Lake AVaikaremoana, Mr. Semple declined to comment, reserving his statement till he had inspected the position again.
