Dutch Boxer to Fight in

(Received January 14, 8.55 p.m.) Sydney, January 14. The Dutch boxer, Bep Van Klaveren, lias signed an agreement with the promoter, Charles Lucas, to take part in two further contests before March 8. An order lias consequently been filed for discontinuance of the writ issued • on January 8. Lucas said: “I am satisfied that our hitch was due to a misunderstanding. Van Klaveren and I are the best of friends.” Jlr. Lucas announces that Van Klaveren will meet Carroll in a return contest at Hie Sports Ground on a date not fixed. No decision has yet been made as to who will be Van Klaveren’s opponent iu bis third light. Jlr. Justice Nicholas on January S granted an application by Charles Lucas, boxing promoter, for a writ of care directed against the Dutch boxer, Bep van Klaveren, who, it was alleged, was leaving by tlie Jlariposa for America. It was reported that Klaveren, accompanied by his wife, was escorted ashore a few minutes before the Jlariposa sailed. The application arose out of a writ for £2OOO issued by Lucas against van Klaveren for alleged breach of contract, Lucas stating that van Klaveren had agreed to take part in five more fights. The main bout was between Jack Carroll and Bep van Klaveren, the former winning on points. TO STAY IN AUSTRALIA Palmer to Meet Henneberry (Received January 15, 12.10 a.m.) Sydney, January 14.

Jlr. Jlunro, manager of tlie National Boxing Club, states that the club lias accepted the terms submitted by Ambrose Palmer to induce'him to remain in Australia, and has arranged for Palmer to meet Fred Henneberry in a light-heavyweight championship bout at the Stadium on February 10.
