Lord Barnby Urges Empire Campaign (Received January 14, 10.30 p.m.) Melbourne, January 14. Lord Barnby states that he is more than ever. convinced that unless an Empire-wide wool publicity campaign is undertaken Australia will suffer seriously. He suggested that the imposition of a levy by Dominion Governments on every bale exported would be the only effective action. A committee should be appointed to control the funds thus created. It should be independent of Government appointment,and not subject to political interference. SYDNEY PRICES FIRM (Received January 14, 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, January 14. At the wool sales 11,283 bales were offered. 10,593 being sold by auction, also 1718 privately. 'There was good general competition and prices were firm at yesterday’s rates ’for all descriptions.
