Collapse of Cliff Face

John Dawson, aged -19. of Gorge Road, was killed this afteruoor through being caught in a fall of grave, in a pit. With his soli and two othei men Dawson was tilling gravel from tlie Gorge Road pit into a lorry, which was backed against a gravel face 18 feet high. The face suddenly gave way on one side of the lorry, catching Dawsou and another workman named George Duncan. The latter jumped aside ami, though caught about the legs, lie escaped unhurt. Dawson tried to evade the falling gravel, but was almost covered. Dawson was soon extricated, but died within ten minutes.
