Mossman’s Wife Injured By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, January 12. A programme of stunt'events by Putt Mossman, a motor-cycle rodeo and scratch races was presented before a crowd well over 15,000 at Western Springs Stadium on Saturday night. The trick events, which received a fine ovation, suffered from faulty lighting arrangements, but the racing events produced keen finishes, ami good times were registered. The rider from Australia, Van Praag. in a match race against the New Zealand champion, A. Mattson, broke the New Zealand record for four laps from a rolling start, with figures Imiu. 16sec. Trick riding was introduced by Mossman and his wife. Helen Mossman, who showed remarkable balancing skill when travelling round the circle on a powerful four-cylinder machine. Balloon shooting, ‘‘caveman soccer” and motor-cycle polo were included in the stunt programme. An unfortunate accident occurred when, owing to a fault in the apparatus used for the feat of hnrdliir; over the prostrate body of his wife, Mossman’s machine struck her body, necessitating her removal to hospital. Further stunts included the ascent and descent of a seven-foot ladder while the cycle was in motion, and a plunge through a framework of threc-quarter-ineh boards set alight with kerosene.
