Cup Races Sailed at Week-end

The Plimmerton Boating Club held a race for X and I class boats for the Turrell Cup on Saturday. Four boats started away together, and Clyde soon went to the front, and gradually increased the lend until the end of the race. Huia and Ramona changed places twice in the race, and finished with only 15 seconds between them. The race was from the clubhouse to Maori four times round, and resulted as follows: —Clyde, 4.40.4(1, 4.40.40: Kia Ora. 4.43.50. 4.40.50: Ramona. 4.47.20, 4.-10.50; Huia, 4.47.35. 4.42.35.

A second race was sailed fur the Baines Cup for Z class boats. Four boats started, with Torment soon in the lead, closely followed by Swallow, Corsair, and P.-ie-rata. On the second beat to Maori Bay. Swallow passed Torment, and. gaining a slight lead, looked an easy winner, but had the misfortune to sma«h the centreboard on ;i rock, and had to retire. Paerata lost her spinnaker boom, and also retired. The race resulted as follo'vs:--Torment, 5.1.40, 5.1.40; Corsair, 5.6.15. 5.1.45. MeL. Watson (skipper) and Ken Matson have been selected to represent Plimmerton in the Cornwell Cup, to be sailed at Auckland next week.
