Makakl Gold Dredging Ltd. report that the return for 62 hours’ work was 230 z.

Alexander Mines Limited report; No. 5 (the lowest) level, which is being driven to intercept the downward continuation of tlie reef which lias been worked from No. 4 level upward, has just penetrated reefing country. Stone 6in. to ISin. wide has just been cut in the above low-level tunnel. The full width of this lode and values cannot be .ascertained until further work has been done.

Every kind of modern coal-burning appliance was on view in actual operation at the Coal Utilisation Council’s new showrooms at British Industries House, London, which were formally opened recently on the day of the National Coal Convention. Special air-conditioning ai>paratus had been installed to ensure an equitable temperature, in spite of this collection in one room of so many appliances all actually alight. Among the exhibits were two mechanical stokers attached to central-heating boilers to demonstrate the latest method of burning coax smokelessly and providing central heating and copious supplies of hot water at the minimum cost, with automatic control.
