FINE GOLF ROUND

Australian at Los Angeles

I APSE ON FOLLOWING DAY

(Received January 12, 6.30 p.m.)

Los Angeles, January 10.

Ted Naismith (Australia) played a brilliant round of golf on the opening day of the Los Angeles 5000-dollar open tournament yesterday to score 68, two under par, and tie for sixth place. Picard’s sensational 66 is leading the Held. Of the other Australians, Richardson scored 72, Cohen ami George Naismith 75, Bolger 79, and Kelly 81. With the greens sticky from rains Ted Naismith suffered a reversal of form to-day and took 81 to go round. He failed to qualify with a total for the two rounds of .149. Richardson was the only player to qualify among the Australians. To-day he returned a score of 75, giving him a total of 147. Other aggregate scores of the Australians were: Cohen and George Naismith, 152, and Bolger 160. Kelly withdrew. Hines and Picard shared the lead with 137.
