Au allegation that the horse Silk Sox. a hot favourite for the Christmas Handicap at tlie Taranaki Racing Club’s meeting on Thursday, was interfered with has been made by the owners, Messrs. S. and R. Topless. The horse gave an inglorious display and was distressed at the end of the race. It is alleged that tlie horse, during flic night prior to tlie race was given a feed of green lucerne. The police have investigated, but the perpetrator is not known. The police caunot take action under tlie New Zealand law, because uo noxious substance was given the horse.
