Daring Riding at Auckland NEW ZEALANDER MATTSON IN FORM By ’Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 29. Fast, times and daring riding delighted a large crowd at Western Springs Speedway on Saturday night when English. American, Autdralinn and New Zealand riders competed in a cinder-track meeting. 'Three record times were retiiriied. A. Mattson, the New Zealand champion, in tlie first heat of the open handicap event won in 1.21, which is equal to the existing frack record. The same rider in the semi-final of the same race put up the time of 1.20 3-5, a track and New Zealand record. The climax came in tlie final when E. Langton, the English rider, completed four laps from a standing start in 1.20, thus eclipsing Mattson’s time of earlier in the evening. Langton also broke the track record for I hrec laps from a rolling start with 50 4-5. Langton was the most successful rider, securing victories in tlie open handicap event and in two out of the three match races with D. Caso, the Australian. A special nine-race match race between A. Mattson and B. Lisman, of America, was wou by Mattson. NEW SOUTH WALES TITLE (Received December 29. 6.30 pan.) Sydney, December 29. The speedway championships were continued on Saturday night. The Australian, Max Grosskreutz. won the individual championship of New South Wales. J. Milne (America) was second, and Stevenson (England) third.
