FALL ON KNIFE
Schoolmaster Injured Slipping ou a. billside about three miles north of Paraparaumu late ou Saturday afternoon when pig shooting, Mr. O. J. How’artb, headmaster of Island Bay School, Wellington, fell on a knife he was carrying in his belt and bad an artery iu his right thigh severed. His companions managed to tie tlie ends and give him first aid attention until a doctor arrived. Dr. D. O. Paterson went from t’araparaumii to the hillside where Hie accident happened. Mr. Howarth was taken to Paraparaumu, whence lie was taken to the Wellington Public Hospital by the Free Ambulance, w liieb received the call at 9 p.m Mr. Howarth was extremely lucky to be given correct attention by his companions, who did everything that was necessary until the doctor arrived. His injury would have proved much more serious if they bad tmt realised tlie nature of the wound. Last night Mr. Howarth’s condition was reported to be satisfactory. Fie is suffering from a severe incised wound to the right thigh.
