HARBOUR SWIM

Claridge to Make Attempt To-day TO START FROM RONA BAY If the conditions experienced yesterday prevail to-day. C. E. Claridge will endeavour to fulfil his attempt to swim the Wellington harbour from Rona Bay wharf to the Eastbourne ferry wharf, a distance of approximately seven miles. Claridge proposes entering the water at Rona Bay about 1 p.m., and hopes, if successful, to reach the Eastbourne ferry wharf, Wellington, at 4.30 p.m. On the previous occasion Claridge successfully made the crossing, he accomplished the distance in three hours and three-quarters. He hopes to reduce this time by at least a quarter of an hour this afternoon. Should conditions be against his making the attempt to-day Claridge hopes that conditions will be suitable to-morrow. He will be accompanied by two swimmers on part of tbe journey, while a launch will attend him throughout the swim.
