Pneumonia has been reported as supervening in several cases where influenza has been fairly prevalent during the past week or so around Western Southland, and particularly in the Tiiataperc area. Influenza Ims also affected other parts of Southland but to no serious extent. Au occasional case of scarlet fever ami diphtheria has also been notified, but altogether no cause for alarm has been given in any of the illnesses investigated by the Otago and Southland district health authorities.
