Christmas Day Matches London, December 25. Several postponements were necessary in the football matches set down to be played on Christmas Day owing to fog and to the grounds being unfit for play. Burnley beat Blackpool, 3-2. Bury lost to Norwich City, 0-1. . Doncaster Rovers drew with Nottingham Forest, 0-0. Fulham drew with Charlton Athletic, 0-0. Leicester City beat Bradford, 5-0. Swansea Town lost to Sheffield United, 1-3. Tottenham Hotspur lost to Plymouth Argyle, 1-2. West Ham United drew with Southampton, 0-0. Third Division—Southern Section. Brighton and Hove Albion beat Bristol City, 3-0. Bristol Rovers beat Bournemouth, 2Clapton Orient beat Gillingham, 3-1. Coventry City lost to Aidershot, 0-2. Millwall drew with Exeter City, 2-2. Newport City lost to Torquay United, 1Northampton Town beat Reading, 4Notts County lost to Luton Town, 0-3. Queen’s Park Rangers beat Watford, 3Southend United beat Cardiff City, 3-1. Swindon Town lost to Crystal Palace, 0-2. Third Division—Northern Section. Chester drew with Chesterfield, 1-1. Crewe Alexandra beat Accrington Stanley, 4-0. Darlington v. York City, postponed. Gateshead drew with Halifax Town, Hartlepools United beat Mansfield Town, 4-1. Oldham Athletic beat Tranmere Rovers, 4-1. Rochdale drew with Barrow, 1-1. Southport lost to Stockport County, 2Walsall beat Wrexham, 5-0. NORTHERN UNION. Barrow beat Liverpool Stanley, 8-3. Bradford Northern drew’with Brainley, 0-0. Broughton Rovers drew with Oldham, 0-0 (play was abandoned owing to fog after 50 minutes’ play). Halifax beat Swinton, 12-11. Huddersfield beat Keighley, 2-0. Hull Kingston Rovers lost to Hull, 5St. Helens Rees lost to St. Helens, 0-3. Streatham and Mitcham lost to Acton and Willesden, 7-15. Widnes beat Warrington, 8-7. York beat Hunslet, 16-5. RUGBY. Swansea beat Watsonians, 11-0. Bridgend beat Masteg, 9-5. Neath lost to London Welsh. 6-10.
