On New Zealand Currency Basis DIRECT DOLLAR RATES The Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, quoted the following rates for their purchases and sales of foreign exchange yesterday: —

The Associated Banks (other than the Bank of New South Wales) quoted the following dollar rates yesterday on a New Zealand currency basis. They are subjecl to alteration without nolice.

Position of Sterling (British Official Wireless.) London. December 19. The following mean closing rates on foreign exchanges were current to-day compared with those ruling on December 18:—

Black Orpingtons: Hens, heavy, 3/9 to 4/- each; medium. 2/6 to 3/-; cockerels, heavy, 3/6 to 4/6; medium, 2/6 to 2/9. Ducks—lndian Runner: Young, 2/6 to 3/- each ; old, 1/9 to 2/-.
