Special Rates For Holiday Period During tlie Christmas and New Year period the public is again to have the opportunity of having overseas radiotelephone conversations at reduced charges, states the Postmaster-General, Hon. F. Jones. By arrangement between the Post Office administrations of the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, the charges for radiotelephone calls are to be reduced as under between December 23 and January 4, inclusive: —

The reduced charges will not apply on Christmas Day to calls other than those to Australia. The usual charges for three-minute conversations to the United Kingdom and Australia are £5/2/- and £2/5/respectively. As in the ease of the reduced charges which applied on the occasion of his Majesty’s Silver Jubilee, it is anticipated that the appreciation of the public oi’ the concession will be indicated by a substantial increase in the number of overseas calls.
