POWER EQUIPMENT

Extra Generating Plant For Palmerston Palmerston North, December 17. The Palmerston North City Council has been advised that the first of the Diesel engines recently ordered to enlarge the electrical generating plant at Terrace End is expected to be shipped by the Taranaki, which will leave Great Britain on January 9 next. The switchgear is expected to arrive about the end of the present month.

Good progress is being made with the foundation for the first engine, and this should be completed within the next few days. The concrete pond and foundation for the water-cooling tower have been completed, and a start made on the excavation for the foundation for the second engine.
