MIXED BATHING
At Tc Aro Baths From To-day
For the first time in the history of Wellington mixed bathing is to be allowed in the Tc Aro Baths to-daj. This practice is not at all uncommon in other centres, in Australia particularly, but as baths are provided sneeially for women at Te Aro there has been no need for mixed bathing there hitherto. Nou, however, the women’s baths arc being cleaned out, and, io such weather as is being experienced, some special provision has to be made. Women and girls are to use the drossing sheds on the southern side (next, to the women’s baths), aud those which run parallel to Clyde Quay as’ far as the centre dock. Beyond that and on the northern side the dressing accommodation will be for men. The director of reserves (Mr. J. G. MacKenzie), who is in control of the baths, says that proper bathing costumes must be worn. Men will not be allowed to wear V-trunks only—they must have a full bathing costume of the type which at lea,st bears a cousinly resemblance to the neck-to-knee costume prescribed in regulations.
