Over 100,000 sheep will be transported from Tauranga to Orakei during the first three months of next year. The sheep will afterward be taken from Orakei to the Waikato and surrounding districts, where there is a shortage of ewes. The transporting of the sheep will be carried out by the Richardson Line motor-ship Pakura, which will arrive at Auckland from Wellington on December 21 with a cargo of wool. After discharge the vessel will be docked for overhaul, which will include the fitting of a special ’tween deck for carrying additional sheep. She is to leave Auckland for Tauranga on January 2 to load the first of the sheep.
