RANGITANE FROM HOME
Due Here 7 p.m. To-day The New Zealand Shipping Company yesterday received a further wireless message from its motor-liner Rangitane, en route from London to Wellington, reporting that if she continues to meet fine weather she will arrive in the stream between 7 and 7.30 p.m. to-day. If the vessel arrives by 7.30 p.m. she will be cleared by t’ne Customs and port health authorities and will berth this evening at the Pipitea Wharf. The Rangitane lias a big passenger list, 1816 bags of mail, 400 parcel receptacles and a heavy cargo. She will later proceed to Auckland to complete discharge and to continence her Homeward loading. TAINUI’S “ALL WELL.’’ The Shaw, Sav’d! Company has received a wireless message from its liner Tainui reporting that she has been experiencing fine weather —all well on board. The Tainui left Auckland on December 8 for Southampton and London via the Panama Canal and Kingston. PORT HUON CLEARS BALBOA. The C. and D. Line hag received cabled advice that its motor-ship Port Huon, en route from London to Wellington and Lyttelton, cleared Balboa last Saturday. She is due here on January 5. MONTEREY AT AUCKLAND. The Matson liner Monterey, from Melbourne and Sydney, is due at Auckland this morning. She will leave there again later to-day for Suva, Pago Pago, Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Francisco. MAUI POMARE DUE TO-DAY. To complete discharge of her fruit from Apia and Niue Islaud the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare is due at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton and will berth at No. 2 Queen’s Wharf. She is to leave here again on December 24 for Apia and Niue to load again for Lyttelton and Wellington. Mr. T. J. Gardiner is the local agent. MAHANA SAILS.
Having completed her Homeward loading, the Shaw, Savill steamer Mahana left Napier at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday for London, via Cape Horn and Montevideo. TANKER THORHILD. The Union Company has received cabled advice that its chartered motor-tanker Thorhild left San Pedro on December 11 with bulk fuel-oil for Wellington. She is due here on January 3.
BENREOCH LOADING. Under charter to G. 11. Seales, Ltd., the steamer Benreoch reached Picton on Sunday morning from Port Kembla to load wool. She was to have left again yesterday for Napier, Gisborne, Tolaga Bay, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Port Chalmers to complete. The vessel is due here on December 22 and is to clear Port Chalmers finally on January 5 for Dunkirk, London, Hull and Antwerp. MONOWAI AT SYDNEY. Cabled advice has been received that the Union Company’s liner Monowai, from Wellington and Auckland, reached Sydney yesterday afternoon. TRAWLER OLIVE CAM. The Australian trawler Olive Cam arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Sydney with mails. She left again at midday for Port Chalmers, from which port she will fish for some months. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain J. E. Warwick has taken command of the Kini, temporarily relieving Captain It. Huntly who has transferred to the Talune, replacing Captain M. MacKenzic, who is ashore at Sydney on sick leave. Captain A. Russell took command of the Waipahi when she recommissioned at Wellington on Saturday and his deck officers are: Chief, Mr. W. J. Freeman; second, Mr. A. C. Cros'oie (acting); third, Mr. J. J. Tait. Captain J. Bruce has taken command of the Waipiata relieving Captain S. A. Chatfield for holidays. Mr. 11. U. Pike has joined the Waipiata as second officer, relieving Mr. R. F. Dewar for orders. Mr. B. H. Young has joined the Kartigi as third officer, relieving Mr. A. H. Gel! for orders. Mr. F. W. Young has been appointed temporary chief officer of the Maunganui, relieving Mr. H. S. Collier, who is proceeding to Auckland on holiday leave. Mr. D. J. McKenzie, second officer of the Marania, left the vessel at Melbourne. Mr. S. 11. Crawford has been promoted act-ing-second officer and Mr. G. E. Langley acting-third officer. Mr. W. 11. Millward has joined the Karn aS chief officer, relieving Mr. W. A. McGarry, who has transferred to the Hauraki as chief officer temporarily. Mr. J. A. Pearson has joined the Kairange as chief officer, Mr. E. A. Cox having come ashore at Auckland for orders. Captain A. Reed lias taken temporary command of the Hauraki.
Captain D. N. McLeish has been appointed acting-master of the Poolta. The Kakariki recommissioned at Sydney last week with Captain A. M. Lucas as acting-master; Mr. W. A. Dobra as chief officer and Mr. J. S. Fenerty second officer.
Mr, I. B. Dymdck has joined the Wairuna as second officer, vice Mr. W. A. Todd, who has transferred to the Ngatoro as chief officer, relieving Mr. C. H. George, who is now chief officer of the Kekerangu, relieving Mr. R. N. Turner for orders.
